At The Spark We Hire

The Spark is a regional, educational theater. Our company is made up primarily of non-union professional artists and students considering a career path in theater through higher education. 

The following positions are only available to artists 18 years or older who have completed high school and meet one or more of the eligibility requirements for either the professional or intern artists. Must have the ability and desire to perform alongside students of varying ages and experience levels.

Professional Artists

  • Regional, Touring, Broadway credits or equivalent educational experience (completed graduate degree).
  • Significant Community credits or equilvalent educational experience (completed undergraduate degree or certificate program).
  • Limited Special Appearance Equity contracts available.

Intern Artists

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree or certificate program.
  • Gaining theater career experience with previous experience and/or education.

Whenever possible we model our payment structure by union policies though we are a non-union theater. We also recognize that many of our artists make their living through their work and we honor that by hiring based on experience and synergy. We also offer unpaid transitional internships for students over the summer between graduating high school and entering a higher learning program.

Sound Designer & Engineer

Sound Designer & Engineer

Currently seeking a sound designer & engineer for our upcoming production of Tuck Everlasting. At The Spark this position is responsible for obtaining/creating all sound effects, whether recorded or live for a specific production. They are also responsible for setting up the sound playback equipment and running live sound mixing with recorded tracks, effects, and lav mics.

General dates are:

  • Paper Tech April 11 or 14 *time/date dependent on availability, can be remote
  • Optional Designer Run April 11 or 14 (following Paper Tech)
  • Tech Rehearsal April 15 @ 10am-4pm
  • Dress Rehearsals April 18-20 - Call at 5pm for equipment set up as needed, dress rehearsals will start at 7pm so we'll need mics, monitors, etc. ready to go by 6:15pm
  • Performances: Apr 22 - May 7 | Fri 7pm, Sat 1pm & 6pm & Sun 1pm | 10 performances

Summer dates are also coming available soon - we are hoping to develop an on-going working relationship with our Sound Technician. We produce 5-8 productions per year and we also have opportunities to manage rentals events throughout the year.

The Spark is a multi-generational theater company, so you must be interested and able to work with students under 18. The Spark hires ICs who paid per production or event and follows Community Standards for Theatre - Colorado.

SPRING 2023 Performers for Tuck Everlasting

Casting specific roles (see the auditions tab). Professional performers at The Spark serve as mentors for our student performers. The Mentor's is primarily responsible for portraying a character within the production. They are experienced in their craft and elevate the rehearsal and performance process by sharing their experiences and knowledge with students in a mentorship capacity. Review dates below. SUMMER Teaching Artist | Bi-Lingual Musical Theater for Young Performers

Hiring a Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) Musical Theater Teacher.

The Program:

Youngest Performers Programs: These half-day programs are the perfect introduction to theater play for ages 5-9. Young performers will learn foundational skills in acting/vocals/dance that they will showcase on the last day of each program!

ENCANTO! Welcome to the family Madrigal! This modern musical adventure became a quick favorite because of it's irresistibly funny and touching songs. Let's explore this magical world together through creative play, movement, and song. At the end of the week students will lead a sing-a-long with family and friends.

Monday, June 26 - Friday, June 30, 2023 from 9:00am-12:00pm

There will be a short final performance on Friday ending approx 12pm. Depending on program size an assistance teacher will be provided.

ROLE OBJECTIVE

The Teaching Artist role is the lead in the classroom and collaborates with the Asst-Teaching Artist on planning and program implementation.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

They share their experiences and knowledge to educate students in both practice and theory of their art-form and empower students to continue to grow in their art-form and in their communities in a classroom/studio environment. They are experienced in creating safe learning spaces where students are inspired to explore and express themselves.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

2 year minimum experience teaching group classes.

5 year minimum experience performing.
