The Spark is a regional, educational theater. Our company is made up primarily of non-union professional artists and students considering a career path in theater through higher education.
The following positions are only available to artists 18 years or older who have completed high school and meet one or more of the eligibility requirements for either the professional or intern artists. Must have the ability and desire to perform alongside students of varying ages and experience levels.

ROLE OBJECTIVE
The Costume Designer is responsible for the visual appearance of the actors. This may include what is seen (clothes, shoes, hats, purses, canes, parasols, jewelry, wigs, make-up, etc.) as well as what isn’t (corsets, hoops, boning, character elements such as padded stomachs, etc.).
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Costumer Designer is responsible for the design, production, and maintenance of the costumes and accessories based on the production needs.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience costuming for musicals is a plus.

The stage manager is responsible for making sure that the production runs smoothly.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
They facilitate communication and provide practical and organizational support to the director, actors, designers, technicians and Spark administration throughout the production process. They work closely with the Executive Team of The Spark to present a unified vision that aligns with the mission and values of The Spark. They share their experiences and knowledge throughout the production process to educate students/interns in both practice and theory of their art-form and empower students/interns to continue to grow in their art-form and in their communities. During the run of the show they call spot/sound/deck cues and operate the light board.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- 2 years minimum in stage management.
Preferred:
- 2 years minimum in an educational environment as an educator/teacher/leader (such as a school, academy, studio, counseling center or youth center) with middle or high school aged students.
- Technical Certificate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

They work closely with the director and choreographer to present a unified vision and work with performers to develop and implement a finished vocal performance. They share their experiences and knowledge throughout the production process to educate students/interns in both practice and theory of their artform and empower students/interns to continue to grow in their artform and in their communities. They work closely with the Executive Team of The Spark to present a unified vision that aligns with the mission and values of The Spark.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- 2 years minimum as a music director for musical theater.
- Previous experience working and collaborating with a creative team.
- Previous experience working with different levels of dancers in the same production.
This position is approx 12hrs per week during the length of the contract.
