Fall 2020 Auditions

The Spark is excited to have you audition for us! Currently we are only accepting video auditions.

At The Spark we have two audition categories:

STUDENTS are in grades k-12, must REGISTER for the production to audition, and are guaranteed a role(s).

OPEN AUDITIONS are for persons 18 years or older, who are out of high school. No program registration is required to audition and open auditions do not guarantee a role.

Songs for a New World

Student Video Audition Submitted by Friday, September 11 @ 10am.

**MUSIC & DANCE VIDEOs required as described below.

Invited in-person callbacks Saturday & Sunday, September 12 & 13 from 1:30-3:30pm.

16 Students | 4/6 Open Auditionees

Open Auditionees casting for MAN #2 Low F - High A flat; Baritone.

Opportunities to feature vocalists as soloists and ensemble; for students of all levels. Opportunities to explore non-verbal storytelling through both blocked and choreographed movement; for students of all levels.

Tales on the Trails: The Wizard of Oz

Online live audition on September 9 @ 4pm.

Students: prepare for the audition by selecting and rehearsing (2) monologues from the provided list. Choose (2) different characters to read for. No videos, no audition forms need be submitted.  


12 Students | 5 Invited Adult Performers

Auditioning the roles of Dorothy, Tin Man, Lion, Wizard of Oz, Flying Monkey(s) for Students.

Opportunities to feature character performers and improv skills. This is a non-musical performance.

Open Audition Qualifications

The following positions are only available to artists 18 years or older (must be out of high school). Must have the ability and desire to perform alongside students of varying ages and experience levels.

Professional Performers:

  • Regional, touring, Broadway credits or equivalent educational experience (Graduate degree).
  • Limited Special Appearance Equity contracts available.
* A limited number of roles will be offered to professional performers. Pay is dependent on experience.

Community Performers:

  • Significant performance experience and/or education.
  • Arts Education experience with middle and high school students.
* Paid and unpaid positions are available.

Intern Performers:

  • Currently in college or gaining performing arts career experience .
  • Previous performance experience and education.
* Paid and unpaid positions are available.

Video Audition

  • **MUSIC VIDEO: Two 32 bar cuts of 2 musical theater songs in the style of the show. Sing with a backing track or live accompaniment.
  • **DANCE VIDEO: Four 8 counts of dance in the style of the show. (If you are dancing with other performers please provide clear indication of who you are in the video.)
  • SLATE: At the start of each Video - Your Name, Student or Open Audition, Musical Auditioning For, and Audition Materials Title & Credits.
  • **VIDEOS must be no longer than 2 minutes. File types accepted: .mov files or youtube/vimeo links.
  • UPLOAD your Headshot (png/jpeg) and Resume (pdf) as designated on the Intake Form.

How to Submit Your Audition

  • To submit your audition, have all audition expectation requirements ready to go. Then follow the link below to complete the Audition Intake Form and submit your audition!
  • STUDENT Audition Submissions (must be registered and paid in full)
  • OPEN Audition Submissions (18 or older and out of high school)
  • FOR CALLBACKS additional materials to prepare may be emailed.
