Summer Stock Company

This company of selected artists will perform in The Spark’s (2) Main Stage Productions. They will train, rehearse, & perform together; with exclusive intensives and events over the 11wks of summer!

At The Spark We Hire

The following positions are only available to artists 18 years or older (must be out of high school). Must have the ability and desire to perform alongside students of varying ages and experience levels.

Professional Artists

  • Regional, touring, Broadway credits or equivalent educational experience (Graduate degree).
  • Limited Special Appearance Equity contracts available.

Community Artists

  • Significant performance experience and/or education.
  • Arts Education experience with middle and high school students.

Intern Artists

  • Currently in college or gaining performing arts career experience.
  • Previous performance experience and education.

Open Positions

SPRING Sound Engineer

Position available for:

  • James and the Giant Peach

At The Spark this position includes live sound mixing for indoor and outdoor seating setup with recorded music tracks and effects cues. We utilize space and lav mics. The Spark is a multi-generational theater company, so you must be interested and able to work with students under 18.

General dates are:

  • Tech - Apr 10 (10am-6pm*)
  • Dress - Apr 12-15 (5-9:30pm*)
  • Shows - Fri-Sun, Apr 16-25 (7pm curtain F/Sa & 1pm curtain Su)

*Times will be finalized with the hire.

SUMMER STOCK Performers (8)

Our Summer Stock Company members will be given hiring priority for our other summer positions. Our schedule is laid out to provide full-time opportunities for artists this summer.

Not able to commit to the stock schedule this summer? Additional positions in our other summer shows may be released at a later date.

The Performer is primarily responsible for portraying a character within the production. They are experienced in their craft and elevate the rehearsal and performance process by sharing their experiences and knowledge with students in a mentorship capacity.

SUMMER Directors (2)

Positions available this summer:

The Director is responsible for the creative vision of the production. They collaborate with their creative team to implement a full-scale musical production. The Director is experienced in creating safe spaces where they can inspire artists to explore and express themselves through their artform. They share their experiences and knowledge throughout the production process to educate students/interns in both practice and theory of their artform and empower students/interns to continue to grow in their artform and in their communities. They work closely with the Executive Team of The Spark to present a unified vision that aligns with the mission and values of The Spark.

SUMMER Stage Managers (2)

The stage manager provides practical and organizational support to the director, actors, designers, stage crew and technicians throughout the production process. They are responsible for making sure that the production runs smoothly. They share their experiences and knowledge throughout the production process to educate students/interns in both practice and theory of their artform and empower students/interns to continue to grow in their artform and in their communities. They work closely with the Executive Team of The Spark to present a unified vision that aligns with the mission and values of The Spark.

SUMMER Choreographers (2)

Positions available this summer:

The Choreographer is responsible for the creation and implementation of dance and stylized movement in the production. They work closely with the director and musical director to present a unified vision and works with dancers to interpret and develop ideas and transform them into the finished performance. They share their experiences and knowledge throughout the production process to educate students/interns in both practice and theory of their artform and empower students/interns to continue to grow in their artform and in their communities. They work closely with the Executive Team of The Spark to present a unified vision that aligns with the mission and values of The Spark.

SUMMER Music Directors (2)

Positions available this summer:

The Music Director is responsible for overseeing all musical aspects of the production. They work closely with the director and choreographer to present a unified vision and work with performers to develop and implement a finished vocal performance. They share their experiences and knowledge throughout the production process to educate students/interns in both practice and theory of their artform and empower students/interns to continue to grow in their artform and in their communities. They work closely with the Executive Team of The Spark to present a unified vision that aligns with the mission and values of The Spark.

SUMMER Lead Teaching Artists (5)

The Teaching Artist role is the lead in the classroom and collaborates with the Co-Teaching Artist on planning and program implementation. Spark Teaching Artists are experienced in creating safe learning spaces where they can inspire students to explore and express themselves through their artform. They share their experiences and knowledge to educate students in both practice and theory of their artform and empower students to continue to grow in their artform and in their communities.

SUMMER Co-Teaching Artists (2)

The Co-Teaching Artist supports the Lead Teaching Artist in the classroom and collaborates on planning and program implementation.
