Over her formative years, musical theater infused de León’s life with the end result- a unique theatrical, gritty, and soulful sound. Currently, she is a featured principal vocalist/performer for the Disneyland Resort and lends her voice to commercial studio sessions. Adyon has performed background vocals for Macy Gray, Patti Austin, The Growlers, and George Clinton. In 2013, she joined the acclaimed Los Angeles-based soul and funk group Orgone. Orgone’s recent release, Beyond the Sun, is the group’s first featuring de León in a lead vocal and collaborative writing role.
This one week dance intensive will strengthen student's technique in classical styles of dance including: ballet, contemporary, and modern, while also introducing them to choreographic principles, exercises, and questions. Students will begin each day with a somatic warm-up designed to fully integrate the body while conditioning and preparing dancers for the day's movement explorations. This is followed by a technique class that will challenge dancers in a variety of movement concepts, as well as inspire new ideas for creation. The last section of each day will be spent with students working on their own contemporary compositions with the guidance of the instructor. At the end of the week students will present their composition to family and friends in a free performance. Students will also receive a digital copy of their filmed final performance. This class is led by choreographer and instructor Laura Malpass.
Taught by LA graphic design and animation artist Mike Hulyk, this class gives agency to the artist, teaching them how to use social media as a platform for income and growth. Hulyk will go through the intricacies of hashtagging, branding, and digital outreach so that your work is seen and effectively advertised to potential audience and community supporters. As both creators and business people, artists must learn the skills of advertising and marketing to further our growth and allow our work to shine. This is a two hour class, and includes a pizza lunch.
